MESSAGE SUMMARY:
During today’s Sunday service, Rev. Richard began his new series, “Open Your Mind to Receive,” with the idea that we live in an abundant universe, yet beliefs in lack and unworthiness can keep that abundance from fully flowing into our lives.
Drawing from Catherine Ponder’s teachings, Rev. Richard’s message focused on three spiritual practices that open the way to greater prosperity: giving, receiving and releasing.
GIVE:
Giving and receiving are not opposites; they are part of the same divine flow. Giving activates that flow and keeps abundance circulating. This includes giving systematically to God; giving to ourselves through spiritual practice, self-care and a positive outlook; and giving to others through kindness, encouragement, service and support. When life feels stuck, giving can help get the energy moving again.
RECEIVE.
Feelings of unworthiness can cause people to resist compliments, help, gifts, love and other forms of good. Learning to receive graciously expands the capacity for prosperity. Receiving with a sincere “Thank you; I appreciate that” allows both giver and receiver to participate fully in the flow of abundance. And abundant living isn’t simply about having more—it’s about experiencing deeper relationships, meaningful connection and greater joy.
RELEASE.
Making room for new good requires letting go of what no longer serves us: old beliefs, resentments, expectations, relationships, negative thinking and the need to control outcomes. Releasing is ultimately an act of faith: creating space for greater possibilities and trusting that, even when it cannot yet be seen, something good is unfolding.
