MESSAGE SUMMARY:
Rev. Beci Rohkohl shared the story of walking the Camino de Santiago as a powerful metaphor for the journeys we all take through life.
Despite careful preparation, Rev. Beci’s pilgrimage unfolded nothing like she had planned. A series of mishaps, detours, disappointments and loss continually forced her to adjust her expectations and change course.
Her experience revealed an important spiritual truth: we can prepare for life, but we cannot control the road ahead. Sometimes what appears to be a setback or wrong turn may actually redirect us toward something we need—or even protect us from something we cannot yet see.
Rev. Beci reminded us that the true purpose of the journey isn’t simply reaching the destination; it is who we become along the way. When we release our attachment to how life should unfold, we create space to recognize the guidance, relationships, unexpected gifts and sacred moments that might otherwise be missed.
Unity teaches that we live in the presence of One Power and One Presence—Divine Spirit—which sees the larger picture and continually guides us toward our highest good. When life takes us somewhere we never intended to go, we aren’t necessarily lost. We may simply be discovering the path Spirit has been preparing for us all along.
