MESSAGE SUMMARY:
During this week’s Wednesday evening service, Rev. Beci Rohkohl reminded us that the five basic Unity principles become transformational only when we move beyond understanding them and begin living them in our everyday lives.
Unity’s many spiritual teachings are distilled into the five Unity principles, which create a simple yet powerful framework for spiritual living:
1) God is the Source and Creator of all. God is good and everywhere present. God’s presence isn’t distant or reserved for special moment. God is every present: all around us and already active in every relationship, challenge and circumstance. Faith begins by trusting that Divine Good is present, even before we can see it.
2. We are created in the image and likeness of God, and God’s Spirit lives within each of us. Every person carries the spark of the Divine and is inherently worthy. Rather than seeking our value from the outside, we’re invited to remember the goodness that has always existed within us and to recognize that same truth in others.
3. We create our experiences through the power of our thoughts. Our thoughts and words influence the direction of our lives. By releasing limiting beliefs and consciously choosing affirming, life-giving thoughts, we become intentional co-creators with God.
4. Prayer and meditation connect us with the presence and power of God. Prayer is not petitioning for change; it’s aligning ourselves with the truth of who we are. Through prayer, meditation and sacred silence, we quiet the mind and become more receptive to Divine guidance, peace and wisdom.
5. Understanding these principles is not enough—we must live them. Spiritual growth comes through daily practice. As we embody these principles through our choices, actions, service and relationships, we experience greater faith, purpose, peace and love, one step at a time.
In summary: Presence—God is. Identity—I am. Thought—I think. Connect—I pray. And Practice—I live my truth. They’re not five separate ideas; they’re one powerful life.
