SUMMARY:Hiking Group Event: Moonlight Hike/Walk at Papago Park
DESCRIPTION:MOONLIGHT (FLOWER MOON) HIKE/WALK\, May 1st at Papago Park in Phoenix. \nWe will meet at Evelyn Hallman Park at 5:45 p.m. on Friday\, May 1st.  PLEASE arrive 15 minutes early.  From the park\, we’ll hike/walk around the ponds and up to Hunt’s Tomb (about 3 miles total) where there are 360 degree views of the city so we should be able to see the sunset and full moon from the same location and then return to the parking lot afterward.  The moon is supposed to peak earlier in the day.  The surface is paved and some of it is dirt/gravel so wear appropriate footwear.   IT IS ALL EASY!  A few easy inclines.  It’s recommended to bring a flashlight or headlamp\, although when the moon is full and shining brightly\, it is seldom needed.  Better to be safe with some light support.  Also\, it is still necessary to bring water. \nEvelyn Hallman’s parking lot address is 250 E Marigold Lane\, Tempe 85281.  We will meet at the pinkish gates. \nYOU MUST RSVP at least the day before.  If no hikers RSVP\, the hike will be cancelled\, so please make sure to RSVP either via email or text.  (RSVP to Adrian Reznik\, 602.904.1425 or arezzy123@gmail.com). Orientation begins promptly at Noon\, and the session will run until 2pm. \nAge requirement is 12 years with an adult and 16+ without an adult. Dress Code: Sneakers or boots only; no sandals\, flip flops\, crocs\, flats\, or any shoe with an exposed foot. All shirts must have a short or long sleeve (no tank tops). YBe sure to bring your own water bottle/hydro flask to fill at St. Mary’s filling stations. You are encouraged to leave belongings at home\, but lockers will be available if needed. DESCRIPTION:When someone suffers from cardiac arrest\, quick action by bystanders with CPR knowledge can increase the survival rate of the victim by 80%. Sadly\, national statistics show that only 15-30% of cardiac arrest victims receive bystander CPR\, primarily because people aren’t trained to provide it. \nThat’s why we’re bringing in the Scottsdale Fire Department to teach us this life-saving skill! CPR is EASY to learn\, and mouth-to-mouth is no longer required; you’ll learn the hands-only technique. In addition\, you’ll learn how to do the Heimlich for choking victims; how to use an automatic external defibrillator (AED); and what to do in case of bleeding emergencies. DESCRIPTION:Is Spirit calling you to become a Prayer Chaplain?\nThere will be two Interest Meetings:\nSunday\, August 16\, 12:45pm in the Freeman Meeting Room (8)\nAND\nSunday\, Sept. 20\, 12:45pm in the Butterworth Meeting Room (9/10) \nIf you feel called to serve others through the ministry of prayer\, we invite you to attend one of our upcoming Prayer Chaplain Interest Meetings. This orientation is the first step toward becoming a Prayer Chaplain and is required for anyone wishing to participate in the training program. \nNot sure if this role is right for you? That’s exactly what the Interest Meeting is for. Come explore what it means to serve as a Prayer Chaplain\, learn about the training process and ask any questions you may have. There is no obligation to continue beyond the meeting—just an opportunity to discern whether this sacred ministry is calling you. \nPrayer Chaplains play a vital role in the spiritual life of our community\, offering compassionate prayer support and pastoral care to those in need. While the commitment is significant\, so are the rewards. Again and again\, our Prayer Chaplains share that although they entered the ministry hoping to bless others\, they discovered that they were the ones most profoundly transformed. \nServing as a Prayer Chaplain is sacred soul work. It deepens your own spiritual practice\, strengthens your prayer life and provides an opportunity to become a greater expression of God’s love in the lives of others. If you’re ready to grow spiritually while making a meaningful difference\, we encourage you to come learn more. \nPlease note: You must be a Unity of Phoenix member to serve as a Prayer Chaplain. \nWhat is the role of a Prayer Chaplain? \nThe role of our Prayer Chaplains is\, quite simply\, to pray. Chaplains are not counselors or advice-givers. Learning ASL is like opening the door to a whole new language and a richer way of connecting with others. \nIn this fun\, hands-on class\, you’ll learn the alphabet through fingerspelling along with practical signs you can begin using right away to communicate with people who are deaf or hard of hearing. \nDon’t worry—Greta promises no tests! Just a relaxed\, encouraging environment where you’ll learn\, laugh and practice together. (Because practice really is the key to becoming more confident!)
