Prayer Chaplain Orientation

If you are feeling called to serve as a Prayer Chaplain for our ministry, please plan to attend our Orientation! This Orientation and the subsequent training program is required for all those who ultimately do decide to take this next step in their spiritual development.

Our Prayer Chaplains are invaluable in helping to meet the pastoral care needs of our spiritual family. We invite you to prayerfully consider stepping into this powerful area of service for our ministry! Completing Prayer Chaplain training and serving as a Prayer Chaplain is transformative soul work. It is a unique service that differs from many of our other volunteer opportunities in terms of the level of commitment and responsibilities required, and is one of the most rewarding experiences you’ll ever have. Many of our Prayer Chaplains report that they stepped in to serve others, but found that being a Prayer Chaplain blessed and benefitted themselves most of all! It is a role that will help you discover your greatness and the greatness of others … and we will be here to love and support you as you take this next step on your spiritual journey.

Please note that you must be a member to serve as a Prayer Chaplain.

What is the role of a Prayer Chaplain?

The role of our Prayer Chaplains is, quite simply, to pray. Chaplains are not counselors or advice-givers. The core of the Prayer Chaplain commitment is to:
• Hold spiritual space
• Lovingly listen
• Pray from the heart
• Hold in confidence what is shared

No previous experience praying with people is required; we will provide all the traning you require!

Please note the training schedule provided below, and plan your calendar accordingly, as attendance at all of the training sessions is required for anyone who wishes to become a Prayer Chaplain.

Prayer Chaplain Orientation:
Sunday, August 17, 12:15pm

Interviews:
15-minute interviews with Rev. Stacy Macris Ros will take place in August and September

Chaplain Camp Training (at Unity of Phoenix):
Friday, September 26, 5-8pm
Saturday, September 27, 9am-4pm
Sunday, September 28, 1-5pm

Prayer Chaplain Dedication:
During 9am and 11am Morning Worship Services on Sunday, October 12
