Circle of People

Criteria for Forming a Small Group Ministry

Our Small Groups are created by congregants of Unity of Phoenix. These groups invite like-minded people to meet and establish a greater connection and to support our ministry. If you’re interested in staring your own group, please follow this process!

1. ROSTER

Put together a group of people from the ministry who are interested in your group. Prepare your roster of participants, including names, email addresses and phone numbers.

2. INTENTION
As a group, adopt the Spiritual Intention of the group
(which should be in alignment with the vision, mission and values of Unity of Phoenix).

3. NAME, DAY, TIME
Create a name for the group. Designate the day(s) and time(s) the group will meet.

(Due to limited space at the church on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, groups are are encouraged to meet offsite, if possible.)

4. DESCRIPTION
Create a description of your group
that can be used by Unity of Phoenix in its various communications venues to attract new members.

5. SERVICE
As a group, consider participating in at least one of the many outreach projects sponsored by the Unity of Phoenix Outreach Ministry.
Each year, our Outreach program includes both internal and external projects.

6. After you have completed this checklist, the leader/main contact for the group should send the information to Pastoral Care Minister Jimmie Scott at Unity of Phoenix jscott@unityphx.org . Rev. Scott will
contact you after he has an opportunity to review all of the information.

A Temporary Group Meeting 14 Weeks

The Book That Created an Oprah ‘AHA!’ Moment:
Women, Food and God Book Study

August 19-November 12
Every Thursday • 6 to 7 p.m.
Closed after September 9

Are you ready to change the way you think about eating for good? This book study group will offer a safe and supportive forum for participants to share thoughts and insights gained from the Geneen Roth book, Women, Food and God: An Unexpected Path to Almost Everything ... a book that shows how going beyond both food and feelings takes you deeper into realms of spirit and soul to the bright center of your own life. This book was what created Oprah’s “AHA!” moment about food, and caused her to swear off dieting forever! "[This book] is so profound that I think [to everyone] who's ever felt [her weight is] a losing battle, here is an opportunity to win," Oprah said. "This has literally broken me open."

During the 14-week session, participants are also encouraged to complete a weekly study guide, journal, and put ideas from the book into practice. Visit http://www.oprah.com/spirit/The- Companion-Guide-to-Women-Food-and-God for the 15 week study guide we will be following as we contemplate the ideas, thoughts and processes presented in Women, Food and God. For more information, contact September Hullinger at seppiesue@yahoo.com or 623.363.7407.
